A Singaporean has set up a blog to spur more people to help the family of a taxi driver who died in a horrible crash two weeks ago.Mr

Mr Andrew Chow, 45, a social media strategist created the blog on Monday to generate cheque donations and messages to encouragement to the families.

He has asked his business-owner friends to open up their venues for the cheque collection and also encourage their customers to chip in.

Mr Chow said donation may have stopped coming in after the media reported that $170,000 had been raised.

“The sun may look big on paper, but actually it’s nothing considering the three children are still studying and the mum is a home maker,” he said

Mr Cheng Teck Hock, 52 died after a Ferrari crashed into his taxi at the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street.

His passenger, 41-year old Japanese woman Shigemi Ito, also died of injuries shortly after the accident.

Mr Chow has donated $1000 to the cabby’s family but felt he could do more.

“I take cabs a few times a day, and I know how it feels when a father just passsed away, It happened to me 15 years ago.”
